Call for Proposals
About the Initiative
Arts & Robots at ICRA continues the tradition of celebrating the creative intersections between robotics and art. This initiative builds upon the success of previous editions, most recently ICRA 2025 in Atlanta, which showcased installations and performances exploring how robotics can shape artistic practice and cultural discourse. Earlier highlights include Stelarc’s performance at ICRA 2023 (London) and the Automation in Expression program at ICRA 2022 (Philadelphia). For ICRA 2026 in Vienna, we invite artists, designers, roboticists, and interdisciplinary practitioners to propose works that expand the dialogue between technology and creativity in the domain of robotics.
Topics of interest:
We welcome submissions across diverse artistic practices, including but not limited to:
- Fine arts: sculpture, painting, digital or generative art
- Performing arts: dance, music, theater, human–robot interaction
- Interactive installations and immersive environments
- Cinematic works and robotic storytelling
- Design-informed robotics: costume, choreography, movement, material exploration
Submissions inspired by the spirit of ICRA 2025’s Arts in Robotics—which emphasized inclusivity, experimentation, and public engagement—are especially encouraged.
Desk Rejection Criteria:
Proposals may be declined without review if:
- They lack clear relevance to both robotics and the arts
- They fail to provide sufficient detail regarding the concept or implementation
